When the general manager of TownePlace Suites in Solon approached us to install new flooring throughout the new-construction hotel, we were thrilled. Not only because we love what we do, but because we knew we could make the job quick and easy for TownePlace due to our expertise with installing flooring in commercial buildings and because of our knowledge of national specs that some companies have.

We had a blank slate to work with but worked closely with management to ensure we adhered to national standards for Marriott as well as keeping in mind to install flooring that can withstand a lot of foot traffic.

The pool area has beautiful, large windows, so in an effort to really bring the outside in to the indoor pool, we installed a grey porcelain tile to mimic the look of the outside ground/cement coming inside. We used Daltile Unity in Ash Grey Textured. We didn’t stop there, though — the grey tile also goes up the wall about halfway and is greeted with Tropical Blue Cear Glass because there’s nothing that gives you a beachy feel more than something that resembles sea glass!

Directly off the pool is the gym where we installed Echo Surfaces Classic 800 Rubber Rock N Coal flooring. This floor is durable and can endure a lot of people, movement and weight.

Because this is a pet-friendly hotel, we installed a durable and scratch-resistant luxury vinyl plank (LVP) in the rooms that allow pets. It’s Shaw Quiet Cover in Reclaimed. Some of the guest rooms (that are not pet-friendly) have carpet in them as well. Because we needed to adhere to Marriott’s standards, we installed a custom hospitality carpet designed by Shaw in the non-pet-friendly suites as well as in the hallways, conference rooms and lobby.

Lastly, we wanted the warmth of the look of wood floors but wanted to install something that was very durable and waterproof considering this hotel is in Cleveland and we have more weather than any other region in the world. So, instead of installing hardwood that could get ruined by the elements, we installed Virginia Tile, Creek Wood Porcelain Tile in both Walnut Brook an Maple Lake to create some dimension in the large space.

We encourage you to go to TownePlace Suites in Solon to see for yourself the beauty that floors can bring to a space!
