About Ceramic Tile & Porcelain Tile:

From the ancients to today’s discerning homeowners, ceramic tile has been a great choice for classic or modern residential flooring. Ceramic tile and Porcelain tile are among the most durable of flooring surfaces and they offer amazing design possibilities.

Ceramic tile is a mixture of clays and minerals that are shaped and pressed, then fired at temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees (F), resulting in a hard surface. A protective glaze is applied before firing to add color and finish. Firing and glazing make tile resistant to stains, odors, bacteria and scratches.

Porcelain tile is a ceramic made of a very fine mixture of clays and minerals. Porcelain tile is fired at temperatures even higher than ceramic tile, 2,400 or more degrees (F). The higher temperature results in a very dense and water resistant tile.

Natural Stone

Nothing quite demonstrates the beauty and power of nature as natural stone. The most popular choices of natural stone for flooring and accents are: slate, marble, granite and travertine. Each type of rock is a product of the forces of nature: sedimentary rock is formed by the movement of bodies of water, metamorphic rock is formed by exposure to intense heat or pressure, and igneous rock is formed by the crystallization of molten lava. Some newer stone flooring options include up to 40% recycled materials for an environmentally friendly option with less maintenance.
